Juniper is distilled from berries or twigs of the juniper tree, a grey-green leafed tree that grows in many parts of the world, thriving in Arctic conditions. Juniper oil has traditionally been used as an antiseptic by many cultures, and in the past was a constituent of herbal medicines for the plague, cholera, typhoid fever and even diabetes.
